Copenhagen Day 2

We took the Metro to downtown and wandered our way to the canal boat tour. We were joined by a class of teenagers, a group of what we think were kindergardeners, some small pre schoolers, and some American cruise ship passengers. The water was at high tide and the bridges were close to our heads bending the short radio aerials over on the top of the boat (my head level). Rose and Bob - it reminded us of our canal boat trip in St. Petersburg with you. This is a neat way to see the architecture of the city. (see slide show)

Copenhagen has a very walkable and compact inner city. After our cruise we strolled the streets for a bit, in and out of shops, and had a great Danish hot dog from a polsevogn - sausage wagon. It is a typical Danish institution along with the the sandwiches that we had yesterday.

We then thought we would visit the Carlsberg Brewery. Bad idea -- bad directions - (Rick Steves failed us with a bad bus route that dropped us off seemingly miles from the brewery.) We made it half way and then found another bus that took us back downtown where we had a late lunch/early dinner with a beer.

It started to get quite chilly as well as windy. The winters here with the winds must be freezing.

We are tired tonight - we figure that we walked many miles today!
